If it has been a couple of years since you looked at your loan, there is a good chance you are paying more than you need to. Refinancing can lower your repayments, unlock equity, or consolidate debt, but only if the numbers actually stack up.

Andrew compares your current loan against 60+ lenders and gives you a straight answer on whether switching is worth it once you factor in any costs. Sometimes the smartest move is not switching at all, but using a competitor offer to negotiate a better rate with your existing lender. Either way, you get an honest recommendation rather than a sales pitch.

Refinancing usually involves a few costs to weigh up: a discharge fee from your current lender, possible settlement or application fees with the new one, and government charges. The new rate has to save you enough to come out ahead, so Andrew models the real numbers over the life of the loan, not just the headline rate, before you commit to anything.

It is also a chance to fix things that no longer suit you: switching to an offset account, splitting fixed and variable, consolidating a high-interest debt, or accessing equity for a renovation or your next purchase. Andrew helps home owners across Brisbane and South-East Queensland review their loans, and handles the whole switch so it is genuinely hassle-free.

Good questions

Common questions

If yours isn’t here, just ask Andrew below.

Does using a mortgage broker cost me anything?

In most cases, no. Brisbane City Home Loans is paid a commission by the lender you choose once your loan settles, so our service is generally free to you. If a fee ever does apply to your situation, we tell you in writing before you proceed, so there are never surprises.

How do I know if refinancing is actually worth it?

It comes down to the savings after costs. Switching can involve discharge and setup fees, so the new rate has to save you enough to come out ahead. Andrew models the real numbers for your loan and gives you a straight answer, even if that answer is "stay where you are for now".

Can I use the equity in my home?

Often yes. If your property has grown in value or you have paid down your loan, you may be able to access that equity for renovations, an investment property or your next home. How much you can use depends on your lender and your borrowing capacity. We can work it out with you.

How long does the whole process take?

It varies with your situation and the lender, but pre-approval can often be arranged within days, and full approval timing depends on the property and how complete your paperwork is. Andrew keeps things moving and keeps you updated so you are never left wondering where things are at.
